Napkins for Tracing Paper

Motivated to make a pattern but don’t have tracing paper? In a country where you can’t find tracing paper? Napkins are the solution! My mom, a long time sewer, came up with the idea of taking apart a napkin and tracing around the fabric with a pencil.

Selvedge is an independent textiles magazine based in the UK that publishes 6 times a year. It also offers an online subscription with online access. However, even without a subscription, you can have access to fun things in their craft section like how to make cafe curtains, how to make soap, knit gloves, etc.

Various Fabrics

I wanted to make an apron, but I didn’t just want to go to a fabric store and buy fabric. I wanted to make it out of found fabrics. I already collected the following fabrics at a thrift store, and I had fun visually putting them together: the plaid tan and yellow fabric is a dish cloth, the dark blue fabric is a bed sheet, and the light blue/green fabric is a round table cloth. It was fun getting to use the table cloth trim that already existed because it gave me ideas for the design.
